IAA (Immigration Advice Authority, rebrand from OISC – Office of the Immigration Services Commissioner) is an independent public organisation founded under the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999. IAA takes responsibilities to regulate immigration advisors and make sure that they are competent at their jobs, providing services in accordance with clients’ interests. From 30th April 2001, an organisation that an adviser affiliates to should have been registered with IAA, or obtained a certificate of exemption from IAA or legal through other ways, otherwise the adviser may break the criminal law for providing immigration advice or services.
